Affiliate Business Tips
Preselling for profit
The number one strategy to increase your affiliate sales is preselling.
First, what is preselling? Preselling is both an art and a science. The goal is to get your reader prepped to make a purchase. Then you send them to the site that sells what you’ve prepared them for. If you do it well, it’s completely invisible.
The gist is that you give your reader some useful information. And give them a link to the product you’re preselling. In a second we’ll talk about how to do actually it. Before we get into that, you should understand what’s in it for you. Here are a few benefits of preselling:
- Preselling creates trust – Once you have your readers’ trust, they will click your links more readily. And the more clicks you get the more sales you’ll make.
- It disarms your reader – When you’re not hyping or pitching a product, your reader lets their guard down. Unguarded reading means they’re not filtering what you say. So your message gets across.
- It preps them to buy – Now they trust you and feel open to your message. And in turn, they’re open to other messages, as well. This includes the sales website you send them to! Sending them to the sales page in this state makes them more receptive to the actual pitch.
- Your commissions go up – Now your reader arrives at the sales page in a buying mood. Open to the sales message and feeling safe. This dramatically boosts your sales rate!
- It boosts customer loyalty – Plus, they feel they’ve made the buying decision on their own. Instead of being manipulated into buying. And this leads to greater satisfaction with the product.
- It boosts your profits – A satisfied customer doesn’t ask for a refund. And that translates to more commission staying in your affiliate business.
Clearly preselling makes sense. You increase your profits. And produce happier customers. Everybody wins!
Now, here’s how preselling works:
Now you know whey preselling is critical. And hopefully you’re convinced you need to start doing it. You’re ready to learn how to do it properly. As I mentioned earlier, it’s both an art and a science.
Part 1 – The art of it
First, you have to gain the trust of your reader, so they let their guard down. This can only be accomplished by providing actual value in the information you’re presenting. The art of this is to provide enough information to be of value, but not enough to satiate the hunger. The idea is that they want more and the sales page you send them to gives them more. And since they’re more open, they are more likely to make a purchase.
Part 2 – the Science
There’s also a specific formula you need to follow.
The first is how you present the information. You need to know where you’re going before you begin. Your end goal is to make a sale of the product you’re preselling. There are two ways to accomplish this with great content. One way is to give them enough info to whet the appetite, but not enough to satisfy it. The second way is to provide all the information and let your reader discover how hard it is to actually implement it. In either case, the product you’re referring them to solves the problem for them.
Next, you have to use “convert linking” methods. You have directly to the home page of the product. This increases your clicks. But how will you earn affiliate commissions if you don’t use your affiliate link? This is all part of the science of preselling. You use an image tag to cookie your reader before they leave your site.
Next, you want to make sure you’re linking on related words and phrases. Hyperlinked words are clicked more than anything else. Plus, if you link on relevant words, it only makes sense to click on there.
Using this system, you’re virtually guaranteed to increase your affiliate business success.
Unfortunately…
Doing all of this right is really hard! Let’s look at the skills required to pull it off: Good content. The entire process depends on your being able to provide useful information to your readers. This means you have to be able to write well, and have enough knowledge to be useful. Strategic writing. Yes, you must providing useful content. You also have to present the info in a way that provides real value. And somehow also make them want to learn more. The other approach is to reveal a self-evident problem through the information.
Choosing your products. Next, you’ve got to pick the right product to presell. Even if you get the article written. You’ve wasted all your effort if the product doesn’t sell well.
The technical know-how And finally, you need the technical know-how to embed your image tag and make sure you get credit for the sale. This is actually pretty simple – just embed a 1 pixel X 1 pixel image and set your affiliate link as the “source” of the image. (Just don’t mess it up. Otherwise, you won’t get credit for your sales.)
Summary:
Now you’re armed with the information needed to effectively presell. Preselling properly will boost your affiliate profits up to 500%! It’s absolutely critical to do this every time – and to do it correctly. Don’t wait another minute. Make the extra effort required to propel your affiliate business to the next level.
